KA Teachers Share their Stories, to Best Support Learning (Ms. Nentwick)

The Fundamentals

I try to keep a routine everyday, simple organizational skills and accountability. We are teaching our students how to become successful.  I hold my students accountable, especially as they are transitioning to their first year in high school.

Essential Student Success Habits...

Organization. Following the routine is good, but their internal motivation is what’s going to make them successful. Students need to realize who they want to be.

Favorite Topics...

I love young adult literature. I think teaching relatable material is extremely important. Finding those internal motivators is essential. I would like to pursue penpals, here in the U.S. I used to do that when I taught abroad.

Favorite Type of Classroom Activities...

Journaling is my favorite. English is my favorite because you can engage students in many different ways. You never know what’s going on in our student’s minds. You’d be surprised what they want you to know.

Advice for Teachers...

Just take one day at a time and keep focused on what’s best for your students. It’s important to learn how to balance.
